MAA/CARA Conference Grant for Regional Associations and Programs
The MAA/CARA Conference Grant will be awarded annually to a regional or consortial Medieval Studies Program or Association to support an annual regional or consortial conference taking place the year after the application is submitted (for example, applications will be accepted in 2017 for conferences taking place in 2018). Awards will be based on proposals adjudicated by the Academy’s CARA Committee.  One (1) grant of $1,000 will be awarded each year. Please note: graduate-student run conferences and meetings are NOT eligible for this award. Students should apply to the MAA/GSC Grant program instead.

All primary applicants must be MAA members in good standing by September 15 of the year in which the application is submitted. Formal affiliation with CARA is ideal but is not required.

The conference/symposium must be sponsored by a regional, institutional, or consortial association or program.

Application components:
- Cover page (completed online)

- PDF Proposal (not to exceed two pages, single spaced) that includes a description of the conference plans and a one-page projected budget that also lists additional sources of funding, whether anticipated or secured. Proposals must demonstrate an explicit need for funding. Special consideration will be given to individuals or groups who intend to seek matching funding from an institution.

The application and all supporting materials MUST reach the Academy office by October 15 for use in the following year. Applications that are incomplete or late will not be considered.

The CARA Executive Committee will judge the grant applications and funds will be distributed by the MAA office.
