Dissertation Grant Application

To be eligible to apply, you must be a member of the Medieval Academy as of 15 January. The deadline to apply is 15 February.
Please upload a PDF file of no more than two single-spaced pages that includes the following:

1) Describe your dissertation project, rationale, methodology, and significance. What will you accomplish? Why is your project important? How will it contribute to medieval studies?

2) Briefly outline the chapters of your dissertation.

3) Detail research expenses for which you request financial support. If you must travel, explain why.

4) Describe previous funding you have received to support your research and how it was used. List other sources you will apply to for financial support.
Please ensure that a letter of recommendation from your dissertation director reaches the Medieval Academy by 15 February.

Recommendation letters - in a signed, sealed envelope - may be submitted by mail to Dissertation Grants, Medieval Academy, 17 Dunster St., Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02138. Letters may also be submitted in an email directly from the writer to the Executive Director
( as a signed PDF on letterhead.

Late applications or applications that do not follow these instructions cannot be considered.
