John Nicholas Brown Prize Submission Instructions

Books published in 2013 are eligible for the 2017 Brown Prize.

The next Brown Prize will be awarded at the Academy's next annual meeting.

A first book or monograph's eligibility is determined by the publication date. Books are eligible to be submitted in the third year after the publication date that appears in the book. For example, books bearing a publication date of 2000 were submitted in 2003 for the prize given in 2004. The author must be a resident of North America. Three copies of the book should be sent to the Academy office, addressed to the Brown Prize Committee.The following documents should be sent by email to the Executive Director at a PDF comprised of three substantive reviews that have appeared in print or online; a statement by the author that it is his or her first book in the medieval field.

Submissions must reach the Academy's office no later than 15 October.

Please submit three copies of each nominated monograph to:
