Leyerle-CARA Prize
DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL 29 FEBRUARY 2012
In recognition of John Leyerle's outstanding contributions
and continuous service to the Committee on Centers and Regional
Associations (CARA), to the Medieval Academy, and to the general
conduct of medieval studies in North America, CARA has established
an annual prize in the amount of $1,000 to support the doctoral
research of a Medieval Academy member who needs to consult materials
available in Toronto collections. These include the University
of Toronto's Robarts Library, the collections of the Dictionary
of Old English and the Records of Early English Drama projects,
and the library of the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies.
The annual deadline for applications is 31 January
for travel in the period between 1 May and 30 April of the following year.
Graduate students of the University of Toronto currently in residence
are not eligible. The selection committee will be composed of the Chair
of CARA and medievalists on the University of Toronto faculty.
Applications must include three items:
1. a proposal of not more than three pages outlining the
research project, including a statement that specifically addresses the
pertinence of material in Toronto collections to the dissertation research;
2. a brief curriculum vitae;
3. a letter of support from the dissertation director
or major professor.
