The Mutilated Body - Medieval and Early Modern Student Association Post-graduate Conference

Monday, 8 July 2013 to Tuesday, 9 July 2013

This year's MEMSA conference at St John's College is a forum for postgraduates and early career researchers to explore aspects of destruction, disability, and personhood in the medieval and early modern periods. Papers will reflect current trends in medical humanities and hagiography, as well as drawing upon inventive interpretations of the conceptualisation of mutilated corporeality, typified in books, the nation-state and kingship, and Christendom. Keynote speakers will be Professor Faith Wallis of McGill University and Professor Charlotte Roberts of Durham University.

Rooms are available to book on a first come first serve basis at Durham Castle. To make your reservation please contact the Castle direct on 0191 334 4106.
