Graduate Students
Academy
support now tops $100,000 per year. The MAA offers dissertation grants of
$2,000 to graduate-student members to help defray expenses related to
dissertations on medieval topics. The Academy also offers fellowships (of
$20,000 and $30,000) to support dissertation research in specific areas of
medieval studies. The Academy awards prizes for outstanding papers given by
graduate students at the Academy’s annual meeting and provides travel funding
for students presenting papers. A graduate student mentorship program,
coordinated by the Graduate Student Committee, facilitates networking between
graduate students and established scholars. The Academy supports Vagantes, the
graduate student conference held each spring.

workshops on medieval languages and paleography and the John Leyerle
Prize.
