Speculum
The internationally acclaimed journal of medieval studies, published by Cambridge University Press, includes approximately twenty articles and approximately 300 book reviews in four issues totaling over 1300 pages annually. The journal is now available in print, and beginning with the January 2013 issue, the entire Speculum archive is available electronically to members with monthly electronic releases of book reviews.

Medieval Academy Website
The MAA has a new robust website that enables an online community where members can publish and explore information and connect with each other, with member profiles, forums, surveys, and file libraries.

Medieval Academy News
The newsletter of the MAA is published digitally approximately once a month with announcements of interest to medievalists and feature stories on the activities of the MAA and its members.

Medieval Academy Blog
The MAA Blog reports activities of interest to medievalists, including conferences, calls for papers, fellowships, prizes, job openings, exhibitions, lectures, summer programs, workshops and symposia. It is updated daily.

Medieval Academy Books
Begun in 1928, Medieval Academy Books publishes editions, translations, and scholarly works of long-term value for medievalists.

Member Directory
An international directory of the Academy’s members with profiles is available online to all MAA members.

Annual Meeting
The Academy’s annual meeting is a major international conference of medieval studies held each spring. The 2013 meeting will be in Knoxville, 2014 in Los Angeles, 2015 in Notre Dame, and 2016 in Boston. Members receive the call for papers, meeting program, and a discount on registration.

Medieval Digital Resources
The MAA is developing a robust database of digital resources that all members can contribute to, search, and review.

Publication Discounts
Members receive a 20% discount on the publications of Cambridge University Press. Members may subscribe at a discount to the online International Medieval Bibliography, Iter, and ACLS Humanities E-Book with its collection of over 3,300 monographs.

Awards
Three awards are presented annually for outstanding work published in a medieval field: the Haskins Medal, in honor of Charles Homer Haskins, for a distinguished book; the John Nicholas Brown Prize (of $1,000), in honor of one of the Academy’s founders, for a distinguished first book or monograph; the Van Courtlandt Elliott Prize (of $500), in honor of a former Executive Secretary of the Academy, for a distinguished first article.

Travel Grants
Travel grants (of $500 and $750) help Academy members who hold doctorates but are not in full-time faculty positions to attend conferences to present their work.

Book Subventions
The Academy’s book subvention program provides subventions up to $2,500 to university or other non-profit scholarly presses to help support the publication of first books by Academy members.

Graduate Students
Academy support now tops $100,000 per year. The MAA offers dissertation grants of $2,000 to graduate-student members to help defray expenses related to dissertations on medieval topics. The Academy also offers fellowships (of $20,000 and $30,000) to support dissertation research in specific areas of medieval studies. The Academy awards prizes for outstanding papers given by graduate students at the Academy’s annual meeting and provides travel funding for students presenting papers. A graduate student mentorship program, coordinated by the Graduate Student Committee, facilitates networking between graduate students and established scholars. The Academy supports Vagantes, the graduate student conference held each spring.

Centers and Regional Associations
The Committee on Centers and Regional Associations (CARA) serves as a forum for medievalists concerned with teaching, administering centers and programs, and organizing meetings. CARA offers awards for excellence in teaching medieval studies and for outstanding service. CARA offers summer tuition grants to support students attending summer workshops on medieval languages and paleography and the John Leyerle Prize.

Other Activities
Each year the Academy sponsors sessions at the International Medieval Congress at Kalamazoo, the International Medieval Congress at Leeds and the Annual Meeting of the American Historical Association.
